About Me
Well, this is the page where I tell you who I really am! (although I do try do reflect that everywhere else, so hopefully you’re not in for a shock!)
Seriously, it’s so great to have you here!
[Start classical background music...] I was born in Montreal, Canada and had a great childhood, with a family just as creative as ambitious. I studied Psychology and most of my professional career has been with education and health research. I met my partner in London at age 21, and moved to Sydney, Australia, where we still both live, now with our 2 beautiful young boys.
Having children was a turning point for my career. I had grown out of passion for my job (working in an office full of cubicles and unlike-minded people makes me cringe!), and I now had an opportunity to be home with my babies and start something new. So I did the whole ‘work from home mums’ search on Google until I found a business opportunity that seemed to suit my needs and interests… and that held the promise of becoming extremely wealthy, fast!
Fast forward a year, and my business or bank account looked no healthier than they did when I started. I spoke to hundreds of leads without results. I got frustrated with the weekly motivational company webinars telling me to just ‘keep calling more people’ and to ‘get in the numbers game’. I got tired of changing my call back script over and over, and wondering what I said that turned people off (or wondering why the heck people didn’t take action to change their lives). I constantly had to justify my efforts and lack of results to friends and family. I felt like I was banging my head against a brick wall.
And yet, I couldn’t bare the thought of letting that business go… and of going backwards.
The truth is, I LOVED what I did!
I had become an entrepreneur… and I had learnt the skills and mindset to carry my aspirations. I had developed a new passion for online business and marketing, and I was HOOKED! I also knew that I could do whatever I wanted with my business ideas, and create something that was so much greater than just ‘calling more people’ to make sales. I didn’t want to merely ‘replicate’… I wanted to CREATE something that was unique and that reflected me. I had the commitment and determination, and I just needed to adjust the vehicle.
My business partner Juli Parker and I had been collaborating on a few projects and we had the same drive, and the same feelings of contradiction between what we were taught to do as network marketers, and what we truly wanted to achieve with our unique set of skills and interests. We decided to take action, not just for ourselves, but also for all others who could benefit from our expertise and passion.
SpunkeBusiness was born…
