As a home business owner, do you make a conscious effort to separate your personal life and your business? Do you have a ‘personal life personality’ and a ‘business personality’? What about success in both of these areas, don’t you think the personal attributes that you exercise in your personal life are just as relevant in your online business success? What if you transferred your strenghts between both areas, and applied yourself with integrity using your best attributes across the board?

In the past, I have been one to diligently separate my personal life and my work life. Probably because I disliked my job and felt no connection with the people I worked with! As a new business owner working from home, I struggled for a while with harmonising my personal life and my business, and in particular the somewhat distinct personalities that I used to run each aspect of my life. Today however, as an online entrepreneur who is passionate about what I do and who chooses to collaborate and partner with like-minded people, I found the gap narrowing between my professional self and my individual self.

I was reading a book on happiness by Dr Timothy J. Sharp, and stumble across this line: “The skills that lead to success in one area of our lives could just as easily lead to success in other areas”. To think that in the past I have completely ignored the behaviours and personal attributes that lead me to a successful life at a personal level seems crazy now! All these years ‘at work’, I could have been caring, assertive, passionate, collaborative, inspirational, positive, creative and funny! Instead, I focused on being productive, hard-working, professional, reliable and compliant, which are all part of my strenghts, but certainly not the full array of my strengths!

So why I am telling you this? Because I have since realised that what makes me a great spouse, a great mother, a great friend and an inspired individual is also what makes me successful as a network marketer and home business owner. My attributes transfer fully between my various roles to generate inspired action and create success. I can be a caring mum, and a caring leader in business. I can be a collaborative business women, and a collaborative friend. I can be hard working in my home and in my business. And I can be creative and passionate in each role. I don’t need to be 2 people. I can be one successful person in all areas of my life through the power of my strenghts and personality, and keeping with my integrity. Yeah! How liberating!

My fellow network marketers will know what I’m talking about here. The ability to be yourself, take back control, follow your passions, lead with integrity, enjoy what you do, inspire others, attract like-minded people, be empowered to create your own results, and approach success as an all inclusive personal and professional goal. It works for attraction marketing and personal branding. And as I have a personal development business (the products for my network marketing business are personal development related), I am constantly empowered to learn new skills in my personal life and business (as a work at home mum) and continue to apply and transfer them across the various aspects of my life.

So today I ask you this: Are you transferring your skills? Are you using the personal attributes that make you successful in one area of your life in the other areas of your life? Do you openly share your personality in your home business or network marketing business, and apply your best personal attributes to build it?

Please leave me a comment, and share this around!

Are You Like Me? Attraction Marketing and Filtering Prospects.

While preparing my latest online business campaign, and internally debating my attraction marketing strategies, I had a simple yet extremely meaningful realisation. While trying to determine exactly what I wanted to pre-qualify my prospects on, and what I wanted to find out about them, I realised that one of the main questions I really wanted to ask is this: ‘Are you like me?’.
